Security arrangements during Muharram: 'Peace Committees formed to maintain law, order'

District Police Officer (DPO) Sialkot Waqar Ahmad Chohan has said that law and order would be maintained at all cost during the month of Muharram in Sialkot district.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday he disclosed that peace committees had been constituted at police station in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of the district and members of these peace committees would assist the concerned SHOs of their respective areas.
The DPO further told that measures had also been taken to improve patrolling system to deal with the criminals. Besides, "Chaukidari System" and "Thikri Pahra" had been made more effective in cities and rural areas in the district he disclosed.
He claimed that crime graph had been decreased during the last month as compared to November 2008 due to preventive measures take by the government. As many as 187 proclaimed offenders were apprehended out which 86 criminals were wanted in serious cases while 76 absconders were also arrested from various parts of the district the DPO disclosed.
