Former KPC president Najeeb dies

Senior journalist and former president of Karachi Press Club (KPC) Najeeb Ahmed died of cardiac arrest here on Thursday morning. Ahmed, who was born in Karachi on March 2, 1961, left behind a wife, three daughters, a son and a large number of friends. After doing his masters from University of Karachi, Ahmed alias Najeeb Pe-G had started his journalistic career from Jasarat and later moved to Khabrein.
He joined Jang about 18 years ago as a crime/law and order reporter and served that newspaper till his death. An active member of Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ), Najeeb also served the KPC and the journalist fraternity in various capacities, ranging from its treasurer to president.
In a joint statement, KPC President Imtiaz Khan Faran and Secretary A.H. Khanzada, expressing their deep sorrow and grief over the tragic death of Ahmed, prayed that may the departed soul rest in peace.
Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) and Karachi Union of Journalists (Dastoor) also condoled his death. Funeral prayers were offered at Ashraf Masjid located near his residence, House 7/98, Sheet No 7, Model Colony near PTCL Office. He was buried in Model Colony graveyard on Thursday night.
