Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday warmly felicitated the unopposed election of Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah, Speaker Wazir Beg and Deputy Speaker Jamil Ahmed in Gilgit-Baltistan. In a message, the prime minister termed it a good omen for democracy and reiterated that the government would continue its policy of political reconciliation and consensus.
The prime minister said this is the victory of democracy and hoped that this would go a long way in further strengthening the democratic institutions and greatly benefit the people of the area.
