The Punjab Health Department has taken various steps to control the swine flu. Necessary medicines and diagnostic material have been provided to the teaching as well as other hospitals for free diagnose and treatment of the patients besides conveying the doctors to take precautionary measures during the check up of swine flue patients.
This was disclosed by the Director General Health Punjab Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry while presiding over a meeting of the administrative doctors of public and private hospitals of Lahore, said a department's spokesman here on Saturday. The DG Health informed the meeting that the swine flu is a new disease for Pakistan; it is a curable disease that needed preventive measures.
He advised the people to avoid close contact with influenza patients. The meeting was informed that posters and leaflets containing the precautionary measures and the symptoms of swine flu also distributed among the hospitals for displaying in the hospital premises to create awareness regarding the disease.
The DG Health directed the health officials to ensure displaying of these posters in every hospital at prominent places. The meeting also nominated Director Health CDC Dr Mubashar Atique, Additional Director Dr Islam Zafar and Additional Director Health Surveillance Dr Mubashar Malik as focal persons to co-ordinate with the hospitals in this regard.
