Moderate quake jolts western India

A moderate but shallow earthquake jolted western India on Saturday, seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of any damage. The US Geological Survey said the 5.1-magnitude quake struck at 5.21 pm (1151 GMT) around 156 kilometres (97 miles) south of Pune in the western state of Maharashtra.
The quake struck at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres. Indian news channel NDTV said light tremors were felt in Pune, northern Mumbai and elsewhere in the state. The channel said there were no reports of any damage.
