ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Islamabad High Court on Saturday constituted a larger bench to hear the disqualification case of Khawaja Muhammad Asif on September 26.

A three-member larger bench, comprising Justice Aamir Farooq, Justce Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurengzeb would hear the petition moved by PTI leader Usman Dar.

On September 21, Justice Aamir Farooq had referred the case to Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court for constituting a larger bench.

In his written order Justice Aamir stated that "after hearing the contentions of the counsel for the petitioner, I am of the opinion that the issues raised in the petition are of first impression and involve interpretation of the election laws as well as constitutional provision and in view of the situation it is just and proper that petition be heard by a larger bench".

The court further ordered to the office to place the file before the chief justice for appropriate order.
