Taiwan dollar weakens

The Taiwan dollar eased on Monday in thin trade from a one-week closing high in the previous session as the island's central bank sold the currency, paring earlier gains, dealers said. Friday's final price of T$32.278 to the US dollar was the strongest close since December 4.
Taiwan's central bank, which seeks to keep the currency in a managed float and recently has pushed it lower to help local exporters, sold Taiwan dollars in the final minutes of trade, a dealer in Taipei said.
