Punjab Finance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira said here on Wednesday that the consensus on the seventh National Finance Commission (NFC) award is a historic achievement of present Federal and provincial governments, and all credit goes to the wise, accommodative and collective wisdom of our political leadership.
He also said that all the four provinces played very positive and vital role during the NFC meetings and the Federation also shared remarkable flexibility to accommodate the long-standing demands of the provinces. "Consensus on the seventh NFC award within five month is also a historic achievement, and such a difficult task achieved very amicably and it shows that the democratic forces work for the welfare of people," he added.
"The seventh NFC award would create harmony, unity, and new strong relationships among the provinces. Punjab would get more resources, and the new award help to implement various programmes regarding public welfare.
"The Federal government has given more fiscal space for the province, and agreed to increase the share of the provinces from 47.5 percent to 56 percent in the next fiscal year and the remaining four-year share of the provinces would remain 57.5 percent. "The new award is the new hope of unity of the people of Pakistan," he added.
