Lahore High Court has directed District Police Officer (DPO) Attock to produce a Sikh lawyer Anop Singh here on Thursday (today), involved in a case of house trespassing and torturing the inmates. The court issued these orders in connection with a petition filed by Anop Singh, of Pindi Ghep, through his counsel Arif Chaudhry praying to quash his case.
Counsel submitted that Anop Singh, being a professional lawyer, was contesting a case of divorce on behalf of one Safia Begum against her husband Muhammad Amin. Respondent (Amin) also cut the beard of Anop Singh in police custody besides subjecting him to severe torture, counsel added. He requested the court to quash the FIR registered against the Sikh lawyer by declaring it as illegal, without lawful authority and based on male fide intention.
