Separate barracks for child delinquents demanded

18 Dec, 2009

Separate barracks should be set up for child delinquents whose interaction with hardended criminals diminishes their chances of rehabilitation and return to normal life. There must be separate arrangements for women inmates and their children in jails as well so that minors can be kept away from harmful influence of criminals.
This was demanded in a joint statement by Mian Channu Bar Association members Sajjad Rafique, Chaudry Kashif, Nargis Naheed Tariq and Mian Shahid here on Thursday. They urged the government to adopt welfare policies for jail inmates and treat them as per United Nations's set standards for prisoners.
