Declining trend was seen on the currency market on Saturday as strong buying of dollars forced the rupee to give up its overnight gains in terms of the US currency, dealers said. On the interbank market the rupee lost 15 paisa against dollar for buying and selling at 84.25 and 84.30, they said.
At the weekend in the New York, the dollar rose against most major currencies and was headed for its best weekly gain against euro since April as investors who sold the US currency for most of 2009 bought it back as the year-end neared.
The euro fell below $1.43 for the first time since early September before recovering some losses, while the dollar rose against the Japanese yen for a fourth consecutive day.
