The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has pre-qualified 18 private firms for accelerating its ongoing drive against illegally constructed commercial plazas as well as removing alterations made in such premises, in violation of the approved building plans.
According to a LDA's spokesman here on Saturday, presently a labour force of more than 300 employees has been carrying out round-the-clock demolition operation launched by the LDA on December 6. The LDA has urged builders and owners of commercial plazas, whose buildings or parts of their buildings are to be demolished during the on-going campaign of LDA against such constructions, for removing all installation from the area under demolition and to make necessary arrangement for safety of other equipment from damage, while the demolition work was in progress.
It has further asked them for making alternate arrangement for water supply in case water tank also falls in the area under demolition. The builders have also been asked for making necessary arrangement for removal of debris and salvaged material at their own cost. Failing this, the LDA would not be held responsible for any loss/misplacement at any subsequent stage.
