Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Babar Awan on Friday submitted two surety bonds amounting to Rs 100,000 each at a local court after being granted bail and cancellation of his arrest warrant. According to details, owner of a local newspaper, Sheikh Iftikhar Adil, filed a case against the Minister under sections 365, 398, 389 at New Town Police station in 1998.
In the case, it was alleged that Dr Babar Awan intercepted Sheikh Iftikhar Adil at the Double Road and snatched cash, briefcase and other items from him before disappearing. The court time and again summoned the accused but issued arrest warrant for failing to comply with its orders.
