On Saturday a city court sent one of ‘Chennai Express’ producers Karim Morani to judicial custody for 14 days in a rape case.  The film maker was arrested by the police late Friday night after Supreme Court dismissed his anticipatory bail plea.

Morani was arrested after a Dehli-based 25-year-old aspiring actress accused him of raping her on the pretext of marrying her. She alleged that the Bollywood producer took her private pictures and videos and was threatening to post the same on social media.

The case was filed in January against him on charges of rape, wrongful confinement, and criminal intimidation and cheating. Morani appealed for an anticipatory bail which was later dismissed by the Supreme Court on Friday, following this rejection, the producer was asked to surrender by the apex court reported by Hindustan Times.

The aspiring actress said that she met Karim through his daughter, who was also a theatre artiste in Mumbai where the incident apparently took place. However the producer has denied the allegations, saying all this is done for ruining his character and image.

Karim Morani is one of Bollywood’s most accomplished producers and has worked with Shah Rukh Khan , Deepika Padukone, Aamir Khan, Kajol and many other on successful projects like, ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Raja Hindustani’ , ‘Damini’ etc.
