Basis bids for hard red winter wheat in the US Plains were unchanged Wednesday amid only light demand. Protein premiums were steady to 1 cent higher for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City. The weather remained beneficial for the dormant US winter wheat crop with a snow storm moving through the northern US Plains at mid-week.
Many grain dealers were closing early Thursday and planned to be closed Friday for Christmas. Asian trade saw the benchmark KCBT March contract drop 1/2 cent to $5.16-3/4 a bushel after March wheat closed up 1 cent at $5.17-1/4 on Tuesday.
