US Plains HRW wheat bids flat

24 Dec, 2009

Basis bids for hard red winter wheat in the US Plains were unchanged Wednesday amid only light demand. Protein premiums were steady to 1 cent higher for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City. The weather remained beneficial for the dormant US winter wheat crop with a snow storm moving through the northern US Plains at mid-week.
Many grain dealers were closing early Thursday and planned to be closed Friday for Christmas. Asian trade saw the benchmark KCBT March contract drop 1/2 cent to $5.16-3/4 a bushel after March wheat closed up 1 cent at $5.17-1/4 on Tuesday.
