South Korea has bought 3,510 tonnes of non-glutinous milled rice for June 30, 2010 arrival from Daewoo International America Corp, state-run Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corp said on Thursday. In a tender closed on December 18, the agency bought the grain for $830.00 per tonne including carriage and insurance to meet part of its import quota under a World Trade Organisation agreement.
The grain lot will be delivered to the port of Busan. With the purchase, South Korea has wrapped up its rice buying for 2009, as it has met its import quota of 306,964 tonnes, and is expected to begin tenders for 2010 purchases from July, an agency official said.
