Fresh inflow of $6.338 million foreign portfolio investment

A fresh inflow of 6.338 million dollar of foreign portfolio investment at the Karachi share market was witnessed during the week ended December 24, 2009. "The offshore investors interest seems to be reviving at the local equity market and they are coming back to invest here," analyst said.
According to the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) data, the cumulative inflow of dollar of this mode of investment has been recorded in the current month from December 1, 2009 to December 24, 2009. The outgoing week started on a positive note, as the offshore investors remained net buyers of shares worth $3,606,869 on Monday.
However, the foreigners opted for profit taking on Tuesday and withdrew $1,255,975 from the local equity market. The situation once again improved with a fresh inflow of $750,074 on Wednesday. The foreign investors remained net buyers of shares worth $3,237,303 on Thursday. The market remained closed on Friday on account of birthday of Quaid-i-Azam and Christmas.
