Police arrest Indian stowaway from Air India plane

28 Dec, 2009

Police arrested an Indian stowaway who hid on an Air India flight from Saudi Arabia to return to his country, a police officer said Sunday. Habib, who uses one name, was employed by a Saudi company as a loader and cleaner at the Medina airport, said Biju George Joseph, a superintendent of police.
On Saturday, Habib, 28, sneaked aboard the aircraft and hid himself in the lavatory. He was later caught by the cabin crew. Habib told Indian investigators he was unhappy with his Saudi employer and desperate to return to India. As his passport was with his Saudi employer, he decided to stow away on the Air India flight. An Air India spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
