Philippines shares climb

Philippines share prices closed 0.65 percent higher on Tuesday due to year-end window-dressing, but volumes remained thin ahead of a three-day public holiday, dealers said. The composite index gained 19.84 points to 3,052.68 points while the all-shares index rose 0.82 percent to 1,918.64 points. There were 81 gainers against 22 losers while 61 were unchanged.
Volume amounted to 1.28 billion shares worth 3.48 billion pesos (74.8 million dollars). Top-traded Aboitiz Equity Ventures gained 2.27 percent to nine pesos while China Banking Corp gained 1.37 percent to 370 pesos. Philex Mining Corp was unchanged at 16 pesos.
