The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Gwadar Port Authority Bill and announced Rs 1 billion as initial compensation for the affected persons of Karachi blast. Chairing a special Cabinet meeting on board a Pakistan Navy ship to discuss the issues concerning Balochistan, the Prime Minister said he would also visit the affected areas of Karachi.
The meeting attended by federal ministers and the four chief ministers at the PNS Babar anchored at Gwadar Port, offered Fateha for the martyrs of Karachi incident. Under the approved bill of Gwadar Port Authority, its board will comprise 15 members including 7 each from Balochistan and public-private sector with chief minister Balochistan as its Chairman.
The Prime Minister in his initial remarks at the meeting said the democratic government had come forward with the Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan to end the sense of deprivation of Baloch people. He said the meeting''s agenda and venue had been decided in the same perspective of highlighting and addressing the issues of Balochistan.
He thanked Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani and Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghouri for making elaborate arrangements for the Cabinet meeting. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said he would also visit Karachi and announce the package for the affected traders. The meeting focused on the Balochistan issues particularly the implementation of Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan package.
