03 Jan, 2010

The provincial metropolis on Saturday was engulfed by heavy fog disrupting both air and road traffic. In the evening, the dense fog creep into the city, which limited the visibility. Thus, the Allama Iqbal International Airport's authority shutdown the airport at night. Hence, all outbound flights were suspended while inbound flights were diverted to Karachi.
According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) official, poor visibility led to suspension of flights, however, it will resume next day, but subject to weather conditions. Motorist also faced problems due to poor visibility and the motorway was the worst hit. Consequently, the Motorway authority shutdown the motorway in the evening, only to be reopened after the foggy conditions cleared.
