Another patient, a young woman this time, suffering from swine flu Monday died in the emergency ward of Multan's Nishtar Hospital. Rabia bibi, 18, died while suffering from the virus. Principal of Nishtar Hospital Professor Dr Laiq Hussain Siddiquie said," Rabia was a suspect of swine flu and all symptoms were of swine flue, we kept her in isolation room for treatment and took her blood for test, but she could not survive and died within 12 hours."
Earlier, two suspects, suffering from the same virus, died in the same hospital. Ms Shazia (27) of Abdul Hakim town was kept in the isolation room of ward No 22 of Nishtar Hospital, on Friday. She was admitted to hospital three days before. Dr Zafar Niazi, Medical Superintendent of NHM said," Shazia died of swine flu on Friday. Another married lady Shagufta (43) of Multan city died on Thursday. Third patient Wajid Ali is still in critical condition.
The health ministry has failed to devise any effective strategy to stop the spread of the viral disease, officials said. The National Programme for Influenza failed to create awareness about swine flu among people Till date, 63 people have been affected by the disease.
