Value-added textile: 'government to ensure availability of cotton, yarn'

Punjab Senior Minister Raja Riaz Ahmad has said that the government will ensure availability of cotton and yarn to domestic value-added textile industry at any cost and necessary arrangements are being finalised at federal level in this regard.
He further said that a special meeting of the cabinet committee on textile would be held on January 8 to discuss issues relating to yarn and cotton availability to domestic textile industry and a workable solution would be made in it. He said this at a meeting with representatives of power looms and textile industry here on Tuesday at Circuit House.
Federal Minister for Textile Rana Farooq Saeed, Commissioner Tahir Hussain, RPO Muhammad Tahir, DCO Saeed Wahlah, MNAs Tariq Bajwa, Nawab Sher Waseer, Waheed Khaliq Ramay and other representatives of power looms industry were also present in the meeting.
The minister assured the participants that a workable strategy was also being evolved to provide maximum power to textile industry so that this sector could work properly. He further said that textile is back bone of national economy and the government will make every effort to facilitate this sector. The minister assured the participants that he himself would put up the issues relating to textile sector with Prime Minister and endeavour to get them resolved.
