NWFP Minister for Labour, Sher Azam Wazir on Tuesday paid rich tributes to the political and diplomatic acumen of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who had given a unanimous 1973 Constitution to the country at time when it was passing through a very difficult era.
In a statement issued on the 82 birth anniversary of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, he said Z A Bhutto martyred for his matchless role to bring Pakistan and Muslim Ummah closer besides launching a nuclear programme and giving unanimous constitution to the country. He said the Quaid-e-Awam had always struggled for rights of the poor and downtrodden masses. Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto had raised the stature of the country among comity of nations due to his bold policies on national and international issues.
The Founder of PPP was a visionary statesman of international repute, who had served as the President of Pakistan from 1971 to 1973 and then as prime minister from 1973 to 1977. He said that Z A Bhutto was a towering personality of world who commanded the allegiance of millions of people inside Pakistan, across the Muslim World and in the third world as a hero, reformer and pro-people politician.
He said that his leadership gave a pride to his followers, the nation and oppressed people everywhere. He said that Bhutto was also a hero for his struggle for uniting the Muslim World. He was a leader of international calibre and the anti-democratic forces removed him from the political scene in a bid to destabilise Pakistan. "The leaders who ruled the hearts and minds of the nation never fear death; like Z A Bhutto and his illustrious daughter Benazir Bhutto Shaheed."
The Minister said the forces loyal to democracy have now learnt that wrangling between the political parties on petty issues strengthened dictators and Pakistan's past 63 years of parliamentary history is replete with such examples. He said the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani have put the country on the right track.
