Shahbaz for joint efforts to eliminate corruption

Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that corruption has ruined the country and joint efforts will have to be made to eliminate this menace from the country. He said that present government was promoting good governance in the province and transparent utilisation of each penny was being ensured.
He said that parliamentarians should keep close liaison with the people and play their effective role for resolution of their problems and timely completion of development projects. He was talking to the parliamentarians belonging to various districts here on Saturday.
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that national resources were looted ruthlessly in the name of development projects in the past, merit was trampled, nepotism and corruption were promoted and no development project was completed on time. National exchequer was caused loss of billion of rupees in delaying development projects but the present government was ensuring timely, quality and transparent completion of development projects, he added.
The Chief Minister said that mega projects were being completed speedily and not only people would get relief with the completion of these projects but also leave far reaching impacts on the development of the province. He said that on the direction of chief PML-N, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, all resources were being utilised for progress and prosperity of the people and provision of basic amenities to them.
He said that government had decided to distribute millions of acre cultivatable-land of the province among the land less farmers and agri-tenants. He said that work on development projects was being carried out speedily and third-party audit system had been made compulsory for the transparent completion of these projects.
He said that improvement of education, health, agriculture, livestock, infrastructure and various sectors of social development, was their top priority and huge resources were being spent for the development of these sectors. He said that revolutionary steps taken for the improvement of education sector and equipping the young generation with knowledge was yielding positive results.
He said that rural and basic health centres were being upgraded for providing modern health facilities to the people at their doorstep and billion of rupees are being spent for provision of free medicines to the patients in the hospitals.
He said that agriculture was backbone of economy and government was taking solid steps for increasing the agriculture production and prosperity of the farmers. He said that agricultural equipment on economical rates and tractors were being provided to the farmers through subsidy. He said that farmers were also taking benefits from the results of agriculture research.
He said that best infrastructure was of great importance for the rapid development and government was paying special attention on construction of roads, flyovers and underpasses throughout the province. He said that economic activities had been promoted under a comprehensive strategy in the province. He said that the elected representatives should utilise all their energies for timely completion of development projects and including the people in the development process.
