Raw sugar futures on ICE rose early on Thursday and appeared poised to test 29-year peaks soon, while cocoa edged up after positive Q4 European grind data, a key measure of demand. ICE front-month March raw sugar futures rose 0.16 cent or 0.57 percent to 28.20 cents a lb at 1225 GMT, within sight of last week's 29-year peak of 28.95 cents.
ICE March cocoa rose $5 or 0.15 percent to $3,394 per tonne. ICE March arabica coffee futures fell 0.55 cent or 0.38 percent to $1.4460 per lb.
