16 Jan, 2010

Pakistan People's Party information secretary Fozia Wahab on Friday lauded the United States for one billion rupees pledge for revival of business activities in Boulton Market of Karachi.
Talking to newsmen at the Parliament House here, she said that the Unites States' assistance would help rehabilitate small traders of Boulton Market who suffered huge losses as their business offices were set on fire by miscreants after a bloody attack on the mourning procession on Ashura Day.
Similarly, the US non-military assistance under Congress approved Kerry-Lugar Bill would also help strengthen social sector, economy and democratic institutions. "We have conveyed our acknowledgement to US Special Envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke too," she added. She said the PPP government was sincere and committed to implement the charter of democracy in letter and spirit. Although the pact was between the PPP and PML-N, other political stakeholders would also be taken into confidence for evolving consensus, she added.
