Polio campaign would start from Monday (today in district Multan that would continue till January 21 in which children below 5 years of age would be vaccinated. Co-ordinator Health Punjab, Shiekh Tariq Rashid inaugurated the Polio Campaign here on Saturday in Civil Hospital.
EDO Health Dr Iftikhar Qureshi, MS Civil Hospital Dr Imtiaz Elahi Parachi, Dr Shahid Magsi, Dr Saeed Ahmad, Dr Farhan Khan and Rabia Sehar were also present on the occasion.
Shiekh Tariq Rashid said that parents should play their due role to root out this disease from the country. It is the duty of parents to bring their children to the health care centres for vaccination so that new generation could be saved from polio.
He said that Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif is paying special attention to health sector and that's why free medicines and dialysis facility are being provided in civil hospitals.
Shiekh Tariq said that construction of District Headquarter Hospital is under progress to provide better health facilities to the people of southern Punjab. Moreover, the project to construct OPD of cardiology institute has also been formed. He further added that newly constructed Burnt Unit in Nishtar Hospital would soon start its services. EDO Health Dr Iftikhar Qureshi said that 1722 teams have been formed to vaccinate 664,348 children of below 5 years age. 295 area incharges and 49 zonal supervisors have been appointed for the monitoring of these teams.
