The Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Mohammed Adil Siddiqi has said that 84 new schemes of water and drainage would be initiated in the province. He said the department had been directed to expedite work on clean drinking water and drainage schemes, which have been approved.
Addressing a meeting of the department's officials here Monday, the minister informed that out of 95 schemes under ADP 2009-2010, 9 schemes were transferred to other departments while two schemes exist in the block allocation. He said work on 84 new schemes worth Rs 6278.66 million, would start shortly.
Earlier in a briefing, the minister was informed that out of 84 schemes, approval for 67 schemes, which include 27 water supply and 40 drainage schemes, was obtained from the Department of Development Working Party, while approval of 17 more schemes was being sought. These include 9 schemes of water supply and eight of drainage.
