'Government to ensure austerity at highest level'

Punjab Finance Minister, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said that to ensure austerity at the highest level the government has imposed ban on purchase of new vehicles, luxury items and other unnecessary expenditures. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of MPAs here on Tuesday, disclosed an official. He said a committee has been constituted for ensuring austerity in the current expenditures.
He also said a ban has been imposed on unnecessary expenditures and no department would be allowed to spend more money than allocated in the budget, while the ban on purchase of new cars, furniture and other luxury items would be continued. According to him, the provincial departments would reduce its current expenditures and use budget in a rationalised manner. Directions have been issued to concerned officers to use old items by maintaining them properly and avoid demanding supplementary budget. All the departments should control its current expenditures.
