Young Leaders and Entrepreneurial Summit (YLES) 2010 was inaugurated at the campus of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), on Tuesday. The summit has been organised by LUMS Entrepreneurial Society (LES). The summit will continue till January 23. Chief Executive AKD Securities Nadeem Naqvi is the chief guest, at the summit.
YLES will provide a platform to the young entrepreneurs to network with the gurus of marketing, meet the leaders of today and decision-makers of tomorrow and most importantly, listen to the stories of the fellow participants. Enlightening on the subject, President LES Aneeq Ahmed Cheema said that it is the first student-based entrepreneurial society in Pakistan.
"We offer lesser wise words and more experience, that in it self bequeaths wisdom. A wisdom that befalls from meeting people, learning new ideas, adopting new skills, facing competitions and finally learning and about winning and losing, accepting and challenging, all that comes in our way".
YLES is more then a mere confidence, and makes us learn who we are and prepares us for bigger things-such as life itself, he added. The aim of the YLES 2010 is to give the youth-the future leaders and entrepreneurs the talent of decision-making and develop the business acumen through a series of seminars, conducted by professionals and competitions such as Social Enterprise Challenge, Idea Competition, Play It (an ad. making competition), and workshop networking.
Commenting on the programme, Maha Rehman, Head of the Host Team said that YLES 2010 with its 'sustainopreneurship' agenda not only aims to introduce this culture in the society, but seeks to transform attitudes and change mind sets. It seeks to challenge the institutional framework of the society, which will be the first step towards bringing a positive difference in the system.
She said that the host team has worked tirelessly to put together an event that will truly initiate and catalyse this transformation through a wide array of business events, social events and workshops. The entire summit is a youth-driven venture, aimed at creating awareness and students potential as the torchbearers of tomorrow. The summit will develop a sense of business in the students. They will also learn the skills of pressure management, group dynamics and team working.
