Dr Aafia arrested from Karachi: documentary proofs submitted to LHC

Barrister Iqbal Jafree here on Thursday submitted before the Lahore High Court the documentary proofs about arrest of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from Karachi in 2003. He also presented the copy of a judgement of South African constitutional court that had ordered American court to stop trial of African national.
He said the American court had not only followed the order of African court but had also ordered repatriation of African national to his home country. He said African court had passed the order to the same court, which is trying Dr Aafia on the charges of attacking American soldieries in Afghanistan. He said American CIA arrested Dr Aafia from Karachi in 2003 and her son was killed during her arrest. She was later shifted to America. While Pakistan government and Americans were insisting that Aafia was apprehended from Afghanistan in 2009.
The LHC will take up the matter on January 25 seeking action against government for not approaching International Court of Justice (ICJ) to get Dr Aafia released from America. A law officer had also produced the treaty document under which Pakistan could not move ICJ without prior permission of US.
The court had directed the petitioner to produce the press clippings, which showed that Dr Aafia was abducted from Karachi and transported to Afghanistan for handing over to US.
