The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Thursday disposed of a petition filed by Defence Minister, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar challenging the inclusion of his name in Exit Control List (ECL), as the law officer informed the court that name of the petitioner had been deleted from ECL included mistakenly.
The minister, who is also senior leader of Pakistan People's Party (PPP), through his counsel submitted that his name was included in ECL on the request of National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Counsel pleaded that the NAB had made two references against petitioner of alleged misappropriation in textile quota and rice export and he remained jailed for two years.
Counsel maintained that accountability court had acquitted the petitioner from charges on merit before the promulgation of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and no proceedings were pending against him. He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the respondents to delete his name from the ECL.
