Partly Facetious: Let's admit, we have a culture of defeat

22 Jan, 2010

"There is much public anger."
"But it did lead to the President and his entire entourage returning to Islamabad."
"Entourage?"
"Well many ministers including the Prime Minister missed the President and off they had gone to see him in Lahore."
"You mean all the Zardis were in Lahore..."
"Yes and all the Nawalas were away."
"Only the Sharifs were away, the rest of the Nawalas were in town but not available if you know what I mean, till of course when they requested a meeting with the President and were not granted audience."
"You know if the President's visit can force all the Nawalas to go into hiding then perhaps he should relocate to Lahore."
"I know you are saying that simply because you don't want him in Islamabad, the reason being you enjoyed no road blocks for the duration."
"Well, OK, I am apolitical..."
"I thought you were anti-administration, who ever is in power you are against."
"I want some innovative policies, I want an end to corruption, I want..."
"Right, little has changed from one government to the next except perhaps to become marginally worse."
"Indeed but the public anger I was referring to was with respect to the IPL ignoring Pakistani players."
"I don't understand that anger! If the Indians don't want to have any Pakistani on board for reasons of patriotism then it's their call."
"And the correct response must be not to ignore the Indians but to establish a parallel system namely PPL."
"Our entrepreneurs are too focused on getting SROs passed and don't have time to spend money on cricket teams. And our actors and actresses don't make that kind of money as do the Indian artists."
"And with our luck the first two PPs would be synonymous with Peoples Party and the L would probably imply Leave of Absence abroad."
"Don't be facetious."
"That's why I am anti-administration. Nothing changes, but something must."
