The nations legging behind in science and technology would not have to meet the global standards without adopting innovative approach. This was stated by UAF Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while addressing the participants of dissemination event under Higher Education Commission (HEC) and British Council JHEL Program-II organised by Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics (ABG) UAF at New Senate Hall here on Thursday.
Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan further said that UAF was on its way to Internationalisation having scientific and research collaboration with USA, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, China and other technological advanced countries. He maintained that University researchers were winning research projects on competitive grounds from various funding agencies.
Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that 68 projects were submitted to PARB, 41 to PAK-US joint collaboration programme and 61 to Higher Education Commission Islamabad for funding. He said that HEC has adopted slogan "Universities as Community Builders" which was introduced by UAF as well as the idea of Entrepreneurship in Universities was initiated at our University.
Professor Muhammad Younas, Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry highlighted the JHEL programme-II and said that during three years more than 45 researchers from all around the countries were trained under this programme in the field of Animal Breeding, Genetics and Bio-technology.
He said that University scientists had visited University of New Castle UK, for collaborative research. Professor Allah Bukhsh, Director Research, UAF and HEC focal person also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the HEC initiatives, which were designed to promote science culture in Universities. Professor Sajjad Ahmad Khan, Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics conducted the programme. Researchers from various organisations and Faculty members of the University also attended the ceremony.
