Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) has earned a profit of four million rupees during Haj operation last year. ZTBL President Zaka Ashraf told newsmen here on Saturday that ZTBL had received Haj applications for the first time in its history and earned profit of four million rupees during Haj operation.
He said the government was making all out efforts for the development of agriculture sector while President Asif Ali Zardari had given him the responsibility to monitor agriculture technologies and provision of loans, and a new agriculture technology division had been established in this regard. He added that the division was operating successfully in 26 model villages and soon this system would be installed across the country.
He said, with the approval of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, 20,000 tractors had been provided during two years under Benazir Green Tractor Scheme. "ZTBL had set a target to give loans of Rs 75 billion in 2009 but the bank provided loans of Rs 77.6 billion while bank deposits have also increased from Rs 4.3 billion in year 2007 to Rs 8.8 billion in 2009," he added. He urged the farmers to improve their per acre production by using latest agricultural technologies.
