Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources has interviewed Najam Hayder for the post of Managing Director of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Business Recorder has learnt. Najam Hayder is believed to be the close relative of business tycoon Iqbal Z Ahmed of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) fame. He was appointed acting MD for OGDCL in 2003.
The MD OGDCL, Zahid Hussain, is on medical leave and Mahboob Shah Alam is currently holding acting charge of MD. Sources said the Petroleum Minister is currently interviewing candidates for the post of MD in OGDCL as Zahid Hussain is said to be not joining OGDCL after the end of his medical leave. After interviewing candidates, the Petroleum Ministry will move a summary to the Prime Minister for appointing the new MD of OGDCL. Sources said that the current acting MD, Mahboob Shah Alam, is also the candidate for the post of MD, OGDCL.
