26 Jan, 2010

Central President of Awami National Party (ANP), Asfandyar Wali Khan has dispelled the impression that any conflict among government institutions is in the offing in the country.
Addressing a ceremony held in connection with joining of ANP by seasoned politician and former Provincial President of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, Nawabzada Mohsin Ali Khan here on Monday, Asfandyar Wali Khan said the coalition parties in federal government have announced that the decision of Supreme Court on NRO will be implemented in letter and in spirit.
He said constitution has clearly defined authority of judiciary and executive and if government departments worked within the allowed parameters, there will be no conflict among them. Asfandyar said in the prevailing circumstances, when the government is fully engaged in war against terrorism, country cannot sustain such confrontation among institutions.
ANP president warmly welcomed Mohsin Ali Khan on joining of his party and forthwith awarded him membership of Central Executive Council of Awami National Party. He said ANP would benefit from the acumen, politics and experience of Mohsin Ali Khan and use his services on resolution of important national issues. The function was also attended by NWFP Chief Minister, Amir Haider Hoti, NWFP Senior Minister, Bashir Ahmad Bilour, Provincial Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Provincial Minister for Environment, Wajid Ali Khan and ANP leaders.
Asfandayar Wali Khan said due to effective policies of ANP, the party has gained a strong position in the politics of the country. Now, he added, ANP has representation not only in centre, but also in Sindh and Balochistan provinces. He said ANP's leadership firm stance against militancy has enhanced its stature and now people are impressed with its policies.
"We have taken very clear and firm stance against militancy that war against terrorism will continue till elimination of the last terrorist from our soil," Asfandyar vowed. He said that the founder of ANP, Bacha Khan had adopted the policy of challenging the traitor and the same policy is adopted by present leadership of the party against terrorists.
We cannot be bowed down through killing of our partymen, Asfandyar added. The party, he added, has fulfilled its two election slogans of attainment of province's right through NFC award and normalisation of situation in Malakand division. Now, he added, soon the party will also succeed in getting recognition for the province through its renaming.
Asfandayar Wali Khan also criticised central leader of JUI, Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He alleged that Maulana is doing double politics. On the one side he is supporting federal government and in NWFP his party MPAs are sitting in opposition.
He also reiterated party's stance on construction of Kalabagh dam and said water scarcity should be overcome through launching of other projects. There are a number of feasible sites for construction of big dams and the controversial Kalabagh dam should not be touched for avoiding confrontation among politicians, he observed. The ceremony was also addressed by Provincial President of ANP, Senator Afrasiab Khattak and Nawabzada Mohsin Ali Khan. Later, Asfandyar Wali Khan unfurled the flag of ANP at the residence of Nawabzada Mohsin Ali Khan.
