State units to be privatised during period of 2010-12, National Assembly informed

Federal Minister for Privatisation Waqar Ahmed Khan on Monday said the privatisation of government units will be carried out during 2010, 2011 and 2012 as per newly approved Public Private Partnership Policy. In a written reply to the National Assembly, Waqar said the units to be privatised in coming years will be out of the list approved by Council of Common Interests (CCI) in 2006 including the 23 units which are on active privatisation list.
Giving the details of newly approved privatisation programme, he said under the 'PPP' approach, SME Bank Limited, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco), Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco), National Power Construction Company (NPCC) (51 percent divestment may be considered), Faisalabad Electric supply Company (Fesco), Jamshoro Power Company Limited (JPCL) on lease, Heavy Electrical Complex (HEC); Pakistan Machine Tool Factory, Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC), Morafco Industries (Machinery as is where is basis), Pakistan Railways, PTDC motels and restaurants; Utility Stores Corporation and stores, Pakistan Post, Kot Addu Power Company (Kapco), National Insurance Company (Formerly National Insurance Corporation), Pakistan Reinsurance Company (Formerly Pakistan Insurance Corporation) and State Life Insurance Corporation would be privatised.
He added that under the 'PPP' programme, Printing Corporation of Pakistan Limited, Services International Hotel, Sindh Engineering Limited and Republic Motors Limited would also be privatised.
In his reply, he further said that CCI approved privatisation programme of the government covered National Investment Trust Limited (NITL), Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Bank, First Women Bank, United Bank Limited-SPO, Habib Bank Limited-Block Sales, National Bank of Pakistan-GDR, National Insurance Company, Pakistan Reinsurance Company and State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan, Oil and Gas Development Corporation; Pak-Arab Refinery Limited, Pakistan Petroleum Limited, Pakistan State Oil Company Limited, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited, National Power Construction Company (NPCC), Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco); Jamshoro Power Company Limited (JPC), Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco), Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) and Kot Addu Power Company (Kapco), National Fertilisers Corporation, State Engineering Corporation and its units, National Construction Limited, Heavy Electrical Complex, Sindh Engineering Limited, Pakistan Machine Tool Factory, Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation and its units and Pakistan Steel Fabricating Company Limited, Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC), Lakhra Coal Mines and Morafco Industries (Machinery as in where is basis), Pakistan Automobiles Corporation; Republic Motors Limited, Civil Aviation Authority, Port Qasim Authority, Karachi Port Trust, National Highway Authority, Pakistan International Airlines Corporation, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Pakistan Railways & its allied facilities, factories, workshops etc, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, PTDC Motels and Restaurants, Services International Hotel Lahore and Roosevelt Hotel, New York, Printing Corporation of Pakistan and National Book Foundation, State Cement Corporation of Pakistan, Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation, Utility Store Corporation and stores, Trading Corporation of Pakistan, Cotton Export Corporation of Pakistan, Rice Export Corporation of Pakistan, Export Processing Zone Authority, Pakistan Industrial and Technical Training Centre, Convention Centre, Islamabad and Pakistan Engineering Company (Peco).
