Two cops, robber killed in encounter

Two policemen and an alleged robber were killed in an encounter at Chowk-e-Yadgar on Tuesday evening, police said. The encounter started when alleged robber, Sultan Khan resident of Nowshera along with two accomplices, refused to stop for mandatory search at the entrance of Sarafa (jewellery) bazaar, police said.
The robbers on stopping by the police opened indiscriminate firing at police in a bid to flee the scene. Head constable Asad Jan and constable Arshad both died on the spot from the firing. As police returned the fire one of the miscreant Sultan Khan was also killed.
Bodies of the slain cops and alleged robber were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital for post-mortem. The encounter continued for about half an hour. The Chief Capital City Police Laiqat Ali Khan also reached the spot and issued necessary instructions.
