The main accused of the maidservant, Shazia, murder Chaudhry Naeem Advocate, was remanded in police custody for three days by a magistrate here on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the wife and sister in-law of Naeem, nominated in the FIR, obtained interim pre-arrest bails from the court of an additional district & sessions judge till February 3.
The lawyers, however, turned their guns towards media for, what they say, launching a campaign against the main accused in the case. A general house meeting of LBA was held here which was convened by its newly elected president Sajid Bashir. The house strongly condemned the "biased" reporting of media in Shazia case and vowed to deal media with iron fists.
The house also passed a resolution against the media and announced to observe complete boycott of courts on Wednesday (today) in favour of the accused lawyer. Lawyers claimed that the media is highlighting the maid's murder unreasonably, saying she died by falling from stairs. To express their anger against media, scores of lawyers gathered at Cantt Courts on Tuesday, where Chaudhry Naeem was produced by police before the magistrate.
They chanted slogans against media personnel and barred them from covering the proceedings of the case. Some of the aggressive lawyers also tried to expel media men from the court premises. However, media personnel remained in the court premises but could not enter the courtroom of the judicial magistrate.
