Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Thursday praised the premier intelligence agencies including Inter-Service Intelligence, Military Intelligence and Federal Bureau of Investigation for providing timely tips about the criminals and terrorists.
He was speaking in the National Assembly on a point of order and said that he must congratulate and appreciate the premier intelligence agencies for their effective intelligence sharing to curb the terrorism and crime. He further said that the Law Enforcement Agencies in Karachi succeeded in controlling the trend of target killing and kidnapping.
Rehman said there were 17 cases of kidnapping in Karachi of which nine abducted people were recovered and the agencies have information about four other cases. He added that eight alleged gangsters were arrested so far. About killing of a retired Colonel by a driver of a bureaucrat in Lahore, he said that he directed the IG Punjab and he would submit a report till Monday.
Rehman said that there is complete harmony and consensus among the MQM, PPP and ANP in Karachi to end the violence and targeting killing and the situation has been almost controlled. He said that efforts were afoot to destabilise Karachi but the criminals failed due to the unity among the political parties and effective role of the LEAs.
Talking on another point of order, Malik said that no registered pharmaceutical company is involved in the manufacturing of spurious medicines. Earlier, Raza Hayat Hiraj condemned killing of a retired colonel by driver of a bureaucrats and not registering FIR in this regard.
He questioned that everyone including legislators and ministers are not above the law then why the civil servants consider themselves above the law. PPP- MNA Yousuf Ralpur raised issue of water in Sindh, saying that many places in Sindh have no water. He warned that people would soon come to streets against the government if water is issue was not resolved timely.
