Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Sharat Sabharwal called on former Prime Minister and PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence on Thursday. During the meeting various matters of mutual interest came under discussion. Both also exchanged views on present situation in the region.
Sources told Business Recorder that the PML-N Quaid told Indian diplomat that Pakistan is facing difficulties due to fight against terrorism. The whole world must extend all out support Islamabad in the fight against terrorism, the sources said. According to the sources, Nawaz further informed the Indian High Commissioner that resolution of outstanding Kashmir dispute is necessary to ensure lasting peace in the region.
He said that Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions, which are also necessary to put an end to Indo-Pak tension. The sources also claimed that Indian diplomat told Nawaz Sharif that New Delhi wants normalisation of relations with Islamabad. India was trying to wage joint efforts for peace and development in the region, he added.
