Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) central spokesman Ahsan Iqbal has criticised Prime Minister Gilani for 'misinterpreting' the Supreme Court verdict on NRO and has called his stance on reopening of the Swiss cases against President Zardari, a lame excuse of the government.
He said the President is enjoying immunity only on fresh cases, but that has nothing to do with the reopening of old cases, having closed down by an Attorney General without any legal authority. He said the government was violating the verdict of the Supreme Court by presenting a fake interpretation of it.
Spokesperson PML-N said Governor Punjab is sitting over the recommendations for the appointment of new judges over the last 2 months, hindering the provision of justice and judicial appointments. Similarly, he pointed, the Federal Government is hindering appointment of the judges in the apex court, which is a dangerous trend as it would lead to institutional confrontation.
He said absence of implementation on the Charter of Democracy is the reason behind the rising tension between the institutions, as the issues could have been settled amicably if transparency and merit was maintained. He alleged that the government was politicising the issue to adjust 'jiyala judges.'
