Dr Anwar's extension as SZH Chairman: Law Officer issued notice for February 4

29 Jan, 2010

A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) here Thursday issued notice to the law officer for February 4 and extended the suspension of single bench orders under which extension of Dr Anwar A Khan, as Chairman Shaikh Zayed Hospital (SZH), was set aside.
The appellant through his counsel pleaded that Lahore High Court (LHC) was not a proper forum to agitate service matters and added that under article 212 of the constitution, the same should have been challenged before the federal service tribunal. He pointed out that Supreme Court had already passed an order against Dr Saeed therefore, a writ petition was not competent to be moved in LHC.
Earlier, a single bench had set aside Dr Anwar's extension and ordered fresh appointment according to the law. The court had passed order on the petition of Dr Muhammad Saeed who contended that some high ups were annoyed with him due to strict merit policy enforced by him in hospital. Resultantly, he was removed from chairman post and made OSD by Secretary Cabinet Division.
