Islamabad Police in league with Umair Sana Foundation (Red Crescent) organised a blood donation camp for Thalessimia patients and those suffering from various blood diseases. It was a gesture of Islamabad Police to win the public support upholding the slogan of friendly policing, the officers and officials of capital police donated blood for Thalessimia patients and those in need.
The camp was setup at the Islamabad Traffic Police Headquarters where Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Kaleem Imam, SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood and several other officials donated blood with the purpose to help people especially those suffering from various diseases.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam said that Islamabad Police was determined to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and also fulfilling the social responsibilities by contributing in various welfare works. "For the assistance in the community welfare programmes, Islamabad police would never step back and lead at the front for such gestures beneficial for the humanity," the IGP maintained.
Through these gestures the health of patients improved who direly needed blood in time, Imam said, adding that it was our very small contribution and every member of the society should come forward in such welfare programmes.
Imam said Islamabad Police was the role model for other law enforcement agencies and every personnel of this force would contribute in efforts against Thalessimia. The IGP also thanked the media and personnel of the force who donated the blood and said that such camps would be setup on fortnight basis. This foundation would also help us in conducting the various medical tests of personnel of Islamabad police force.
Public Relations Officers Islamabad Police Muhammad Naeem, Waseem Arif and several media persons donated the blood on the occasion as a goodwill gesture. "Media and police can play important role for inculcating positive change in the society," the IGP remarked. This camp would be further extended to the level of police stations and policemen would be urged for more blood donation for Thalessimia patients.
Meanwhile, Kamal Shah, former Secretary Interior has said that integrity, competence, optimism, good conduct and intention are imperative for the success of a police officer, besides optimism and positive attitude. These qualities help officers to keep their moral high and motivate themselves to work during crisis, emergencies and tough situations, Shah said while speaking at the programme `An Hour with the Legend' an exclusive initiative of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Kaleem Imam.
IGP Islamabad Kaleem Imam, SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood, SP Investigation Saqib Sultan, all DSPs, SHOs and senior officials from Islamabad police, motorway police, FIA and foreign dignitaries were present on the occasion. Shah, who had the experience of serving as the police chief in three provinces shared his experience with police officials and tipped them as how to lead the force in the critical situations.
Former Secretary Interior urged the police officers to perform their professional responsibilities through remaining firm and exercising patience for success in career. "For a good officer, it is essential to inculcate the habit of patience. Various qualities including patience, courage, valour and conduct are crucial for developing professional capabilities in a police officer," he maintained.
Kamal Shah appreciated the efforts of IGP Islamabad for welfare of the policemen and said welfare of subordinates help to motivate them and get desired results from them. He also lauded his role for initiating health related projects and his contribution for enhancement of the salaries of police personnel. "Such welfare projects and efforts of the officer for the uplift of their subordinates mean that you are owned by somebody and being taken care by him", he added.
Shah said that hard work was always rewarded as it was important for success. "I have seen educated, talented and honest officers failing due to lack of hard work" he remarked.
He urged the police officials to keep guiding their subordinates and did not disconnect themselves from their staff. "Set a personal example before your subordinates and lead from the front to achieve the objectives," he advised. The IGP Islamabad admired Kamal Shah for having composed personality saying, "I have learnt a lot from him and we will try to get more from his experience in future," he added.
