KPT board inspects Port Grand Complex

02 Feb, 2010

The members of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Board of Trustees visited the Port Grand Complex and inspected this one-mile long food and entertainment facility built in the Karachi Port and now nearing completion.
Acting Chairman Iqbal Umar, expressing delight at the quality of design and project implementation along with the trustees, complimented Shahid Firoz of Grand Leisure Corporation for having passionately executed the billion-rupee project funded entirely by the private sector as a BOT project with the KPT.
The project has been designed, architectured and landscaped in collaboration with a team of international consultants inspired by the best in class facilities world-wide. The unique facility will provide port-based food and fun, a feature customary of every major port-city but so far unknown in Karachi. Additionally the Port Grand has an Art Lane to serve as the special enclave for promoting budding artists to paint or perform in other fields of art.
Port Grand is expected to have a hundred different concepts which include everything from popcorn to exquisite dining, some of the outlets include famous international brands which too are present in the region but not yet introduced in Pakistan.
The complex will also have seven corporate sponsors as brand partners include amongst others, the famous beverage and tea producers, a leading drinking water brand, and major cellular telecom company. Trustee Jameel Yusuf emphasised the need to install all safety and security measures to protect the landmark project and to maximise comfort for thousands of visitors expected in the complex on daily basis.
Trustee Shehzad Murad hoped that the project would significantly upgrade the cultural and social scene in the city besides enhancing eco-consciousness and harbour awareness in the people of Karachi. Finally trustee Pervaiz Alam also lauded the awesome development and hoped that the addition of Port Grand would lend a new dimension to the port and a jewel to the megapolis.-PR
