NH&MP foil robbery bid, seize arms

National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) foiled an attempt of robbery on National Highway, near Lodhran and captured two dacoits including the ring leader and recovered illegal weapons. NH&MP officers Nazir Ahmad and Sajid Salim were on their routine patrolling on National Highway near Lodhran when a road user told them at 0500 hours that some armed men tried to stop his vehicle. On this information, the officers of NH&MP rushed to the site.
As they reached the spot, the armed men opened firing on them. In retaliation, the officers of Motorway Police also started aerial firing. During exchange of firing, ring leaders namely Shafiq and Nazir were captured on the spot and remaining fled away by taking advantage of darkness and cross firing. Motorway Police recovered arms and ammunition, left by the armed men.
The people appreciated the immediate response of Motorway Police. The Inspector General National Highways & Motorway Police Dr Wasim Kauser also, has appreciated the performance of the officers taking part in the action. On the instructions of Sector Commander SSP Ghulam Jaffar, captured armed men and recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to the local police for further legal action and investigation.
