Case against police officials registered

Sadar Police, Faisalabad, have registered a case against five police officials, including the Chief Warden of Faisalabad Central Jail, Mazher Jani, following the orders of Chief Justice of Pakistan. The case has been instituted under section 148/149/337-L2/337A-I of PPC.
A prisoner of Central Jail Faisalabad had sometime back written a letter to Chief Justice, Muhammad Iftikhar Chaudhry alleging therein that on August 24, 2009, Chief Warden, Central Jail, Mazhr Jani and four others namely Majeed Gujar, Asghar Fauji and Muhammad Khan Bagga, on behest of Iqbal Warraich had severely tortured him. He knocked the doors of IG prisons and other high ups of the Punjab Jail department but they did not take any notice of his complaint.
He further alleged that the jail officials threatened to torture more severely him if he would submit complaints to high officers, as their inhuman tortures caused him disable to walk on foot. As a last resort, he wrote letter to Chief Justice, as a result Chief Justice of apex court directed the Faisalabad Police to register a case against all the five accused and submit the FIR in the Supreme Court.
