03 Feb, 2010

PML-Q MPA in Sindh Assembly, Shaheryar Maher has contested the statement of LG (local government) Minister Agha Siraj Durrani that a former federal minister and his brother District Nazim were responsible for deteriorated law and order in District Shakrapur. Rising a point of order in Sindh Assembly on Tuesday. Shaheryar Maher pointed out that at present there were four ministers, two Advisors and two Special Assistants in current Sindh Government.
He said that a private person, who was brother of a minister, was occupying a big post, he held open katchehry with DPO and DCO there. He asked in what capacity he held the open katchehry when he did not hold any office. He alleged that crime rate was even higher in the constituency of LG Minister. He was still speaking when Irrigation Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Law Minister Ayaz Soomro stood up and strongly opposed Shaheryar Maher saying that he could not speak against a Minister in his absence or speak on law and order in the absence of Home Minister.
The contention of Mr Maher was that the Local Government Minister made the remarks against his father and uncle in that very house. He walked out of the House on the issue of Law and order viz-a-viz target killings and on which the Home Minister gave a statement in the House today.
The Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza said that no statement could be allowed if the concerned minister was not present in the House. She told Shaheryar that if he staged walk out on Monday it was his right but going against the rules of procedure was also not correct. However, she asked all standing on the floor of the house to take their seats and said that we should establish good traditions. She ordered that all remarks of Shaharyar Maher against the minister be expunged.
